Workshop: Creative Drama

Published on May 19, 2012 in Activities, Workshops

Creative Drama workshop embodies activities which we perform at the “stage” and through which we gain our physical and personal development, find ourselves and have fun; in short everything we create and enhance together. Besides the weekly sessions integrated with acting and improvising practices, there are also basic puppet and mask courses
.
Theater is a reconstruction process. We do not only realize our change, improvement and the increase in self-expression, but also work on our staging process with improvising, acting, rehearsing and practicing.

We would like to see you among us, in our workshop, where we produce side by side.

“How does racism become ordinary?”

Film Screening: “Namus” (Chastity)

29 January 2012, Sunday, 15:00

Namus, directed by Amo-Bek Nazarian, is accepted as the first feature film of the Armenian Cinema and it has been adapted from the work of one of the most important names of the Armenian literature; Alexandr Shirvanzade’s novel of the same name.

Interior shots were taken in Tiflis-Georgia and exterior shots were taken in Yerevan-Armenia in 1925. The premiere took place in Yerevan’s Nairi Movie Theater on April 13th, 1926.

“It was very hard to decide on a theme for this particular movie which would be the first example of the Armenian Cinema. The most common literary works were about national independence and the subjects were not up-to-date in that time. Eventually, my choice was to portray everyday life and to describe the cruel traditions in the world of small bourgeoisie. The impact of terrible traditions that still exist in countryside of Armenia is narrated in a manner of highlighting the contrast by Armenian novelist Shirvanzade. This novel is a priceless treasure of the Armenian literature and will always preserve its significance.” (Amo-Bek Nazarian, 1926)
